Seeking to promote education and healthy lifestyles within its own ranks as well as in the local community, FBL enthusiastically participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony, on April 29, at the inauguration of the new Drummondville CEGEP gymnasium.

The $2.4 million project would not have seen the light of day without a major contribution from generous donors.  The Fondation du Cégep de Drummondville was able to count on a strong roster of players, namely: Desjardins, from which the new gym gets its name; the City of Drummondville, through the support program for sports and recreational facilities (phase II) of the ministry of Éducation, de l’Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche; the Fondation de la famille Lemaire; Vaillancourt Portes et fenêtres; Faucher Gauthier Architects; and of course, FBL L.L.P. – Chartered Accountants.

When the Fondation du Cégep de Drummondville kicked off the race for raising funds, the college had been coping with overcapacity in its sport facilities for nearly 30 years since it had only one gym for 950 students.  Today, close to 2,500 students attend the CEGEP.

The new 8,825 square-foot gymnasium is equipped with modern facilities, including a mezzanine for spectators.  It has already hosted a few sports events, notably the finals of the 2015 Quebec - Drummondville Winter Games; the Canadian University College Badminton Championship; and the Provincial Ball Hockey Tournament for athletes with an intellectual disability.  In the course of the overall project, the fitness centre was also refurbished to be more functional and better adapted to the needs of the college.  In addition, the new gym will not only serve CEGEP students but the entire local population.

As chartered accountants, we are very pleased to have contributed not only to the financial stream of the project but also to the well-being of students and the local community.
